Cooperation with Universities and Laboratories
Cantoche has partnered with several research laboratories that have purchased the Living Actor™ license and/or study the benefits of Living Actor™ avatars (Imperial College of London, Austrian Research Institute of Artificial Intelligence, University of Twente, Open University, Stanford University, INSEAD, National Center for Scientific Research, University of Augsburg, University of Mons, Università degli Studi of Genova, University College London, Queen’s University Belfast, University of Zurich, Supélec).

- A1:1 (Avatar at Human Scale) 2012-2015
A1:1 is a French collaborative project leaded by Cantoche, which gathers companies (Cantoche, Cliris, Dialonics, Mazedia) and research organizations (Institut Telecom, Université Pierre et Marie Curie). Its goal is to allow a dialog with an avatar at human scale in a cultural place, including verbal and non verbal communication dimensions
- ILHAIRE: 2011-2014
ILHAIRE is a European Project on laughter. ILHAIRE objectives are to help the scientific and industrial community to bridge the gap between knowledge on human laughter and its use by avatars, thus enabling sociable conversational agents to be designed, using natural-looking and natural-sounding laughter.
- MyPresentingAvatar: 2010-2012
MyPresentingAvatar project granted by the French Ministry of Economy. The goal of this 2-year project is to automatically generate presentations of documents by an avatar. The project is realized in collaboration with Telecom Paris Tech and Lingway
- Affective Avatars: 2007-2009
Affective Avatars project granted by the French National Research Agency and supported by Cap Digital (French business cluster for digital content and services in Paris). The topic of this 2-year project is detecting emotions in users’ voices and synchronizing them with avatar behaviors. User’ voice can also be transformed. The project is realized in collaboration with Voxler, CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) and IRCAM (Institute for Research and Coordination Acoustic/Music)
- AtGentive: 2006-2007
AtGentive project granted by the European Commission. The topic of this 2-year project is keeping the attention of the user (short term and long term) for e-Learning applications using avatars.
- Humaine: 2004-2008
Humaine project granted by the European Commission. The topic of this 4-year project is enabling emotions for Embodied Conversational Agents.
